Making it happen

Free Gas Spectral Analysis Tool

Choose from three gases in your free simulation including water vapour H2O, Nitrous Oxide N2O or carbon monoxide CO.

Step 1: Specify Path of Radiation or light

Describe the path of the radiation through the gas

Length of path   [m]
Temperature of gas   [K]
Pressure in gas   [Pa]
Radiation frequency or wavelength
Optimize display for
Show figure of

Step 2: Choose up to three Gases in your path

  Gas Isotope Mixing ratio
1
2
3

Step 3: Happy with your Simulation?

Submit your simulation for processing here:

Notes and Hints: Temperature is in Kelvin: 298 K is Room Temperature or 25oC. Pressure is in Pascals [Nm-2]: 100000 is standard Earth atmospheric pressure. Select ALL isotopes for isotopic composition typical of Earth. The mixing ratio varies between 0 and 1 and is the fractional composition by molecular density. The computation of the propagation of radiation through gases is computationally intensive, and calculations may take up to 10 minutes to complete on our advanced server systems. The results of this spectral simulation are computed according to current and documented physical assumptions regarding the propagation of radiation under idealized conditions and may not be representative of nature in all cases.
